Aaron,

The only extensions I'm aware of are when you exhaust the MGIB and then get a one year extension through the Post 9/11 GI Bill. I do not believe you cannot extend Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits after they're exhausted, but I'm not sure. Best bet is to speak to a VA rep about your specific dilemma.

Hope this helps!

I have 8 months left of benefits under the post 9/11 gi bill but i have 14 months of school left for my RN program. Would I be able to get an extention on the alloted months I have left. I just bought a house a year ago and this would be huge if I couldn't? Thanks if any body knows

Harold,

In order to qualify for family transferability, you'll need to have served for six years and agree to serve for four more years. If you fulfill this criteria, you can apply for transferability of the remainder of your Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits (which is a year) through the Department of Defense. The Veterans Benefits GI Bill blog has more information on this. Hope this helps!

Haley,

If a school does not think it is approved, they are likely not approved. You can learn more about the Post 9/11 GI Bill at the Veterans Benefits GI Bill blog.

Tim,

I believe you have to wait until it's fully exhausted. You'll want to consult a representative at the VA for further details.

Alley,

You'll want to try to get in touch with the VA for more info. You can also check out the Veterans Benefits GI Bill blog for more information on the Post 9/11 GI Bill and BAH.
